Texting members (two-way SMS)
Text members from your organization's own number, with a shared inbox and optional Mynd replies.
Texting members
Text members from your organization's own number and keep every conversation in one shared inbox. Set it up under Settings → Texting.
Which number texts come from
- A Mybers number. Get a local number under Settings → Phone numbers. It belongs to your organization alone, for calls and texts. Pro includes one.
- Your existing office line. We can turn on texting for a landline or office number you already have, so members text the number they know. Tell us under Settings → Texting.
- Move your number to Mybers. Your number comes over and works for calls, texts and Mynd answering.
A number you only verified as a caller ID can show on calls, but it can't send texts.
Registration
US carriers require every organization that texts to register first; it isn't a Mybers rule. Fill in the short form on Settings → Texting (your legal name, a contact, what you'll text about, two sample messages, and how members agree to get texts). We check your details, file it for you, and texting turns on when the carriers approve it. Carriers set no approval time. Your first registration is included on Pro (a $25 value); a second one, or a resubmit after the carriers reject one, is $25. Calls and email work in the meantime. If they ask for changes, the page says what to fix.
The Messages inbox
Open Messages, near the top of the menu, for a shared inbox of conversations. Join requests and program submissions waiting on you show there too. Pick a contact to see the full thread, reply inline, or start a new text from any member’s profile with Text. Unread replies show a badge on the Messages item. Members’ replies arrive automatically, and STOP, START and HELP are handled for you.
Let Mynd answer texts
Turn on Mynd answers members' texts on Settings → Texting (Pro) and Mynd replies to members' questions from your handbook and FAQ, as your organization. It steps aside for a day as soon as someone on your team replies, never answers STOP or HELP, sends at most three replies a day to one person, and leaves anything it can't answer unread for your team. Its replies are marked Mynd in the thread.
Calls in the same place
Completed Mynd voice calls appear in the same conversation timeline, so a member’s texts and calls live together.
Costs
Texts are paid with Mynd credits — see Mynd credits: calls and texts and How voice and SMS are billed and capped. Carriers filter spammy content, so keep texts conversational and avoid bare links to stay deliverable.
